If you see the roster of the art walks in major art events in Colorado you will be convinced that Colorado is serious about the arts. Nine Colorado towns have made the list of hundred best art towns in America.
Ongoing Colorado Art Walks
There are several art districts in Denver that host art walks throughout the year. These include Art District on Santa Fe, Tennyson Street, Golden Triangle, Old Self Pearl Street, Navajo Street Art District. Many come to these areas on the first Friday of every month to look through the galleries and studios.
The first Thursday of the month kicks off the year-round charm in the box canyon town of Telluride. There are a dozen galleries that invite art lovers and downtown restaurants feature artwork specials to offer food and drink. There are also kid walks or self-guided tours that teach the basic principles of art to curious kids.
On the second Saturday of every month, along the Arkansas River mountain town of Salida you will find an art walk with more than 20 stores that have open shows that host artists receptions. Each summer they hold a larger art walk event with theater, concerts, demonstrations, classes all with gallery previews and artist receptions.
Old Colorado City
The first Friday is the art walk in Old Colorado City, Colorado Springs. It takes place in the historic district in April through December. 17 galleries and studios all host the art walk along with the locally owned shops and cafés that make the district very charming.
Downtown pueblos Union Avenue Historic District and the Mesa Junction neighborhood bustle on the first Friday. Galleries are open for extended hours and there are snacks and live performances courtesy of the Pueblo Arts Alliance on Union Avenue.
Being a college town, this town can't help but be a vibrant, art forward community. In the historic downtown there is the first Friday Gallery walk, which brings even more action into the city's already bustling downtown with boutiques, restaurants, bars and more.
All the other first Friday events will keep you free to check out this gallery walk, which takes place on the second Saturday. It is one of Colorado's most popular ski towns but is also growing in reputation as a stellar art town.
Crested Butte's summer art walks following the last Thursday of the month from June to September. There is also the Crested Butte Arts Festival from August 3 to 5, 2018. It is a weeklong event, which features artists from all over the country, a guided tour and musicians playing in the street.

Loveland's Sculpture in The Park: August 10-12, 2018
Loveland has a name for itself as one of the nation's best small towns for the arts. The city's unique public arts and collection totals more than 350 pieces and they are visible from all over the city. The Benson Sculpture Park has amazing views of the Front Range of mountains and the annual Sculpture in the Park showcases 2000 pieces of sculpture from 160 sculptors from around the world.
Art Walk Longmont
Longmont is another Front Range city whose art credentials are rising and they host art walks throughout the year during May and September in the historic downtown. They are accompanied by music, theater, dance and activities for kids.
La Veta Art Events
This is organized by the Spanish Peaks Art Council and is in the south-central Colorado town of La Veta. It typically takes place in early July and there is an art workshop for children and teens and a Harvest Show in September to October.
